Many advocates for Community Health Centers are dedicated and passionate -- but admit to feeling a bit intimidated by having to make the case for health centers to a legislator.  It doesn't get to Larry Lucas -- he's a legislator himself!  He's also our May 2009 Advocate of the Month.

Larry is a Board Member at Horizon Health Care, Inc. in Howard, South Dakota.  He's also a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives, so Larry knows first-hand the importance of grassroots advocacy and making the commitment to being actively engaged in advocating for health centers.

Among the many claims to advocacy fame earning Larry this recognition: attending numerous health center events, regularly sounding off on the importance and need to support health centers at the state capitol and acting as the lead health center spokesman whenever the call comes in at the state and local level.

He stands up for his community in countless ways.  His support for Community Health Centers is why we recognize Larry Lucas as our May 2009 Community Health Advocate of the Month.
