Rosie Armstrong
Executive Assistant at Community Health Services in Hartford, Connecticut
Announcing the May National Community Health Advocate of the Month…And the award goes to…Ms. Rosie Armstrong, Executive Assistant (and advocacy superstar) at Community Health Services in Hartford, Connecticut. Rosie joined the CHS team just two years ago after spending more than ten years working in the Hartford non-profit world working to affect positive change in the lives of countless Hartford residents. Now a shinning beacon at CHS, Rosie recently jumped into full swing as the organizations Advocacy Team Leader, developing advocacy ideals and strategies to create change to benefit not only the health center, but in the community it serves. It’s Rosie’s hope to influence as many residents on the tenets of democracy and their right to utilize government optimally in their best interest and that of their family. Rosie has recruited over 270 health center advocates, who have sent more than 250 messages to both Sen. Lieberman and Rep. Larson asking for their support on critical HC Reauthorization policy (S.901 and HR 1343). WOW! But Rosie’s efforts don’t stop there! Rosie recently spearheaded an advocacy contest at the HC, keeping her community engaged, aware and excited about the value and importance of advocacy. As if that weren’t enough, recognizing the vital need to keep her community, staff and patients informed, Rosie created quarterly newsletters containing the latest information on critical HC policy and CHS advocacy initiatives and has begun scheduling regular advocacy forums to provide advocacy trainings and updates. Through these newsletters and advocacy forums, Rosie hopes to demystify the interest of public policy, media and outreach, and demonstrate the vital importance of health centers to the communities they serve. ….and that was just in April! Please join NACHC in recognizing May’s National Community Health Advocate of the Month – Rosie Armstrong! You make us proud!
