Health Care Reform and Advocacy

As Congress continues to debate how to best improve America’s health care system, it remains difficult for most Americans to determine what reform would really mean to them. Yet, as the debate gets closer to shaping final legislation, the need for committed, effective grassroots advocacy becomes more important and more influential than ever. Depending on the final form health reform takes, Health Centers could have an historic opportunity to be an integral part of a dramatically improved health care system that will not only allow them to better serve their current patients, but also expand their ability to serve millions more. However, without real action by thousands of health care advocates, the future of the Health Center Program and its role in a newly changed system could be less certain and, indeed, damage the long-term success of the program itself.

We have created the Factsheets, Health Reform Glossary, Advocate Videos, and Quick Link access included in this section to assist health center advocates to understand and navigate health care reform from both a health center and personal perspective. We believe that effective advocacy requires that advocates have reliable and timely information so if there are materials or resources that would be helpful to you and/or your health center not found in this section, please contact us to let us know at grassroots@nachc.com
